Our Parsha, Chayei Sarah, opens with the purchase of Maarat Hamachpela – we read how the purchase was done, and how Avraham refused to receive the cave and the field next to it as a free gift, paying instead four hundred silver shekels for them.
Avraham was the first in the list of three who bought land in Israel. After him, Yaacov buys a piece of land in Shechem:
וַיִּ֜קֶן אֶת חֶלְקַ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָֽטָה שָׁם֙ אָֽהֳל֔וֹ מִיַּ֥ד בְּנֵֽי חֲמ֖וֹר אֲבִ֣י שְׁכֶ֑ם בְּמֵאָ֖ה קְשִׂיטָֽה.
And he bought the part of the field where he had pitched his tent from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for a hundred kesitas.
The third place will be the threshing place of the Yevusi, Arona in Jerusalem – where David will build the temple
