The taste of Shabbat – Korach 5778

Parshat Korach tells us about an attempted revolt, not of ten people, as in last week's parsha, but of
וֵַֽׁאֲנָשִֵ֥ים מִבְׂ נֵֽׁי יִשְׂרָ אֵ֖ל חֲמִשִִּׁ֣ים וּמָאתָָ֑ים נְׂשִי אֵ֥י עדָָ֛ה קְׂרִ אֵ֥י מוֹ עֵ֖ד אַנְׂ שי שֵֽׁם.
two hundred and fifty Israelites, chieftains of the community, chosen in the assembly, men of repute.
This is a real revolution, why? and why now?
Let's ask another question, at first sight, Korach is making a logical demand
כָל הֵָֽׁ עדָה֙ כֻּלִָּׁ֣ם קְׂדֹשִִׁ֔ים וּבְׂתוֹכֵָ֖ם
All the people are holy, with God in their midst
So true… The people are in the desert with the mishkan, with God in the midst of each one of them "and you shall make a mishkan and I will dwell in you", so
… וּמַדֵ֥וּעַ תִֵֽׁתְׂנַשְׂאֵ֖וּ עַל קְׂהֵַ֥ל ה'.
Why then do you raise yourselves above the LORD’s congregation?”
The request becomes more specific, as Moshe defines Korach's claim
… וּבִקַשְׂ תֵ֖ם גַם כְׂהֻּנֵָֽׁה.
And you asked for the priesthood Korach wants to be the Kohen Hagadol. Moshe answers him:
בֹֹּ֠ קר וְׂיֹדַַ֨ע ה' את אֲ שר לָ֛וֹ וְׂ את הַקָדֵ֖וֹש וְׂהִקְׂרִִּׁ֣יב אלָָ֑יו וְׂ אָ֛ת אֲ שֵ֥ר יִבְׂחַר בֵ֖וֹ יַקְׂרִֵ֥יב אלֵָֽׁיו.
“Come morning, the LORD will make known who is His and who is holy, and will grant him access to Himself; He will grant access to the one He has chosen..
