Our Parsha, Tazria, is the first in a series dealing with matters of ritual purity of mankind. The laws start, perhaps naturally with birth
דַּבֵּר אֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אִשָּׁה כִּי תַזְרִיעַ וְיָלְדָה זָכָר וְטָמְאָה שִׁבְעַת יָמִים
Speak to the children of Israel and say to them : When a women becomes pregnant and has a male child, she shall be impure for seven days
We will begin to study the story of the woman who gives birth and of ritual impurity with one sentence in Pirkei Avot, and via that sentence we will try understand the subject in a new light
