A management for beginners?
The contents of "Sheni" in our parsha seem to contain a simple technical suggestion that is so simple and logical that it is not clear why Yitro had to suggest it. The great father-in-law comes to visit and sees Moshe judging the people from morning till night. He turns to his son in law and makes the following forecast:
You will surely wear yourself out both you and these people who are with you for the matter is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone.
This is not the way to run an operation, it is not good for either you or the people – and so Yitro makes his ingenious suggestion:
